On Ramp.

What is On Ramp and why do I need to do it?
At Tasman Bay CrossFit we pride ourselves in ensuring everyone is performing our program safely and efficiently. Our ‘On Ramp’ course is the best way we can do this by teaching you the main movements correctly before you jump straight into classes!
-
How long is On Ramp and how much does it cost?
Our On Ramp is 3 seperate sessions which are all taken as a “one on one” or in a small group setting at our facility with one of our coaches. They are each one hour long and are done at a time that suits both parties.
All three sessions cost $120

What time should I turn up?
Generally speaking, we ask that you arrive about 15 minutes early to your first On-Ramp session. As you walk-in you’ll find our reception desk, in the off-chance that no-one is there to greet you, please wait here until your coach arrives to introduce themselves. If there’s a workout in progress when you arrive, DON’T BE ALARMED. If the workout they’re doing looks particularly intimidating, again, DON’T WORRY. You won’t be expected to be doing the same things that they are right out of the starting gate.

Will there be a place where I can change? Shower? Store my stuff?
Yes, yes and yes! We have an area where athletes can store their things, as well as a complete bathroom block and 2 dedicated showers. Athletes are encouraged to store their things in one of the cubbies provided, this way all personal items are off the gym floor and in the safest place from being damaged. Theses are of course located within view. We also kindly ask that you bring your own towel and keep your shower short, particularly if there’s a line of people waiting.

Do most people get absolutely crushed during their first On Ramp class?
Not at all! Remember – our goal in our On Ramp sessions is to provide you with the principles of functional movement. Accordingly, our On Ramp is INSTRUCTIONAL in nature, in that it’s designed to teach you how to perform the movements we use on a regular basis. You might get a wee bit sweaty but it’s all part of the fun!
-
Will we be working out at all during On Ramp?
In order to ensure that you’re not only familiar with the movements we use but also the structure and flow of our workouts, if time allows we incorporate a mini-WOD (workout of the day) into each On Ramp session. Again, the goal of these workouts is to familiarise you with our program, not to leave you feeling buried.
Side note: Because many of the movements patterns taught during a typical On Ramp likely feel new, a lot of people find that they’re often using muscles they never knew they had as they learn each movement. Accordingly, it’s not uncommon for members to wake up feeling a touch tender after each On Ramp session. If you wake up the morning after your first session feeling tight, DON’T SWEAT IT. This is perfectly normal!

What should I wear?
Wear whatever you’re comfortable working out in. There’s no need to buy a completely new wardrobe in advance for your first On Ramp class. The most important thing is that you’re comfortable and confident in whatever you’re training in.
